Google Duo Launched - The Simple Calling App

Google Duo

Hurrah, Google launched Google Duo on Tuesday (16th August, 2016), with the promise of simplified 'one tap' video calling on Android & iOS platforms and the ability to work better on low bandwidth connections.

The application, which is being rolled out worldwide over the next few days, will complete with Microsoft's Skype & Apple's FaceTime.

As per Justin Uberti (Principal Software Engineer at Google) - All you need is a phone number, No separate account is needed to use Duo. A distinct feature on the app -Knock Knock - allows people to see live video of a caller who is in their phone book (like a WhatsApp messaging & calling). You can switches between Wi-Fi and Cellular data seamlessly, without dropping the call in Duo.

Google had announced this launch of the app before 3 months at I/O Developer Conference. As usual policies of Google, the Duo has been built with an emphasis on privacy and security, all calls are end-to-end encrypted.

Duo is easy to use and simple user interface so people can get connected easily within few seconds. Duo has been built to be fast and reliable, so that video calls connect quickly and work well even on slower networks. Call quality adjusts to changing network conditions to keep you connected. Duo will reduce the resolution to keep the call going smoothly in Duo app.
